REET Examination Conducted Peacefully on Day One in Bikaner, Attendance Recorded at 93%
Bikaner | February 27, 2025
The first day of the two-day Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET) was conducted smoothly across various examination centers in Bikaner district, with an impressive attendance of approximately 93%. More than 38,000 candidates are scheduled to appear for the exam in three different shifts over two days. This year, for the first time, biometric verification was introduced to ensure transparency and curb malpractices during the examination process.
The first shift of the examination began at 10 AM on Thursday, with a total of 23,789 candidates registered across both shifts of the day. The district administration and education department made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination, leaving no room for irregularities.
Biometric Verification Introduced for the First Time
A significant feature of this year’s REET exam was the implementation of biometric verification at all examination centers. Candidates were allowed entry only after fingerprint and Aadhaar-based verification, a measure welcomed by the examinees. This step was taken to prevent impersonation and ensure a fair examination process.
One of the candidates expressed satisfaction with the new system, stating, “Biometric verification is a welcome step as it will reduce the chances of cheating and ensure that only genuine candidates appear for the exam.”
Transport Arrangements for Candidates
Special transport arrangements were made by the Bikaner Roadways and Railways Department to facilitate the smooth commute of candidates. Chief Manager of Bikaner Roadways, Indra Godara, informed that special buses were deployed from Hanumangarh, Ganganagar, and Churu to accommodate the large number of candidates traveling to Bikaner for the exam.
“We ensured that all candidates reached their examination centers on time without any inconvenience. Additional buses were arranged on major routes based on the expected number of candidates,” Godara added.
Tight Security and Administrative Vigilance
To maintain the integrity of the examination, the district administration deployed 300 internal officers, 45 field supervisors, 250 ministerial staff, and fourth-grade employees across various centers. The entry gates of the centers were closed one hour before the commencement of the exam, and candidates were only allowed entry after a thorough frisking process.
District Education Officer Dr. Ramgopal Sharma stated, “We have taken all necessary measures to ensure a fair examination process. The introduction of biometric verification has added another layer of security, and so far, the examination has been conducted peacefully.”
Examination Schedule and Attendance
On the first day, a total of 9,247 candidates appeared in the first shift, while 14,542 candidates were registered for the second shift. The final shift will be conducted on Friday morning, with 14,532 candidates expected to take the exam.
The overall attendance rate for the first day was recorded at 93%, reflecting the high level of participation and enthusiasm among the candidates.
Candidates’ Response
Candidates expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the exam and the arrangements made by the administration. Many praised the biometric verification system, considering it a positive step towards ensuring transparency.
One of the aspirants, Ramesh Kumar, said, “The exam was conducted in a disciplined manner, and the arrangements were excellent. Biometric verification will definitely help in preventing cheating and fake candidates.”
Conclusion
The peaceful and transparent conduct of the first day of the REET examination in Bikaner has set a positive precedent. The district administration, in coordination with the education department, has left no stone unturned to ensure a fair and smooth examination process. With the final shift scheduled for Friday, the authorities are hopeful that the remaining exams will also be conducted without any untoward incidents.
The introduction of biometric verification is being seen as a significant step towards curbing malpractices in competitive examinations, setting an example for future government recruitment exams across the state.
