A 800-km Tribute Ride Celebrating Valour, Unity and the Spirit of Indian Army Ahead of Army Day 2026
THE HISTORIC FLAG-OFF FROM ASAFWALA WAR MEMORIAL
The South Western Command’s grand and inspiring Cycle Rally began its monumental journey from the iconic and emotionally significant Asafwala War Memorial in Fazilka on 09 December 2025. The memorial, which stands as a silent guardian of the sacrifices made during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, witnessed a vibrant and patriotic gathering as the rally was officially flagged off by Maj Gen Anuj Kalia, General Officer Commanding, Amogh Division. Present on the occasion were Smt Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Fazilka; Mr Gurmeet Singh, SSP Fazilka; renowned cyclist Ms Aasha Malviya; and senior officers of the BSF Punjab Frontier. Their presence added to the significance of the event, transforming the ceremony into a deep expression of national pride, honour and remembrance. The atmosphere resonated with cheers, tricolour flags waving high and heartfelt emotions as soldiers, youth and locals paid their tribute to India’s warriors.

The South Western Command’s Cycle Rally is not merely a long-distance endurance march; it is a symbolic mission representing the unshakeable resilience, patriotism and collective spirit of the Indian Army. The participation of twenty-three highly motivated and trained soldiers from elite formations of the Command reflects the rigorous preparation, discipline and determination that define the Indian Army’s ethos. Every pedal stroke on this rally signifies the commitment of soldiers to uphold national integrity and strengthen bonds with the citizens they protect. The rally carries a message of unity across states, communities and generations, reinforcing the idea that national security is a shared responsibility of both the armed forces and the people.
THE AMBITIOUS 800-KILOMETRE ROUTE THROUGH BORDER HEARTLANDS
The rally covers a challenging and culturally rich route of more than eight hundred kilometres, weaving through some of the most significant and strategically vital regions of India’s north-western landscape. Beginning from Fazilka, the cyclists will pass through Abohar, Sriganganagar, Karanpur, Anupgarh, Khajuwala and Bikaner, finally culminating their triumphant journey in Jaipur on 16 December 2025. Each stretch of the route brings its own terrain, climate and challenges that demand physical endurance and mental fortitude from the soldiers. As the cyclists glide past border outposts, agricultural belts, townships and desert expanses, the rally becomes a moving representation of India’s geographical diversity and strategic depth. This long-distance ride also highlights the critical importance of these regions in India’s border security grid.
CONNECTING WITH BORDER COMMUNITIES AND SPREADING AWARENESS
One of the central pillars of the rally is its emphasis on outreach and engagement with the citizens living in India’s frontier zones. Along the route, the soldiers will interact with local residents, border communities, ex-servicemen, NCC cadets and thousands of young students. The Cycle Rally forms a major part of the Run-up events ahead of the grand Army Day Parade scheduled for January 2026. आसफवाला वॉर मेमोरियल से शुरू हुई राष्ट्रभक्ति, फिटनेस, एकता और भारतीय सेना के अदम्य जज़्बे की अद्वितीय यात्रा
आसफवाला वॉर मेमोरियल से इतिहास में दर्ज होने वाला शुभारंभ
दक्षिण पश्चिमी कमान की भव्य और प्रेरणादायक साइकिल रैली का शुभारंभ 09 दिसंबर 2025 को फ़ाज़िल्का स्थित ऐतिहासिक आसफवाला वॉर मेमोरियल से हुआ, जो 1971 के भारत–पाक युद्ध के शहीदों की वीरगाथाओं को संजोए हुए है। इस अवसर पर पूरा परिसर देशभक्ति की भावना से सराबोर था, जहां जवानों, स्थानीय लोगों, युवाओं, छात्रों और अधिकारियों ने भारतीय सेना के प्रति श्रद्धा और सम्मान प्रकट किया।
रैली को मेजर जनरल अनुज कालिया, जीओसी, अमोघ डिविजन ने हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया। उनके साथ फ़ाज़िल्का की डीसी सुश्री अमरप्रीत कौर संधू (IAS), एसएसपी श्री गुरमीत सिंह, अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर प्रसिद्ध साइकिलिस्ट सुश्री आशा मालवीय, और BSF पंजाब फ्रंटियर के अधिकारी उपस्थित थे। इस गरिमामयी मंचन ने रैली को राष्ट्रव्यापी महत्व प्रदान किया, जहां हर चेहरे पर गर्व, हर आवाज़ में उत्साह और हर कदम में भारतभक्ति स्पंदित हो रही थी।
साहस, अनुशासन और राष्ट्रीय एकता की प्रेरक यात्रा
यह साइकिल रैली केवल एक खेल आयोजन नहीं है, बल्कि भारतीय सेना की शक्ति, धैर्य, अनुशासन और देश के प्रति उनकी अविचल निष्ठा का प्रतीक है। दक्षिण पश्चिमी कमान की विभिन्न प्रतिष्ठित इकाइयों से चुने गए 23 अद्भुत और प्रशिक्षित सैनिक इस यात्रा में भाग ले रहे हैं, जिनके हर पैडल स्ट्रोक के पीछे देश के प्रति समर्पण, कर्तव्य और एकजुटता का संदेश छिपा है। यह प्रयास देशभर में एकता की भावना को और गहरा करता है और फौज तथा समाज के बीच मौलिक रिश्ते को मजबूत करता है।
सीमा से शहरों तक—800 किलोमीटर का चुनौतीपूर्ण और प्रेरक मार्ग
इस रैली का मार्ग 800 किलोमीटर से भी अधिक लंबा है, जो भारत की सीमाओं से सटे सामरिक रूप से महत्वपूर्ण क्षेत्रों से गुजरता है। फ़ाज़िल्का से शुरू होकर यह दल अबोहर, श्रीगंगानगर, करणपुर, अनूपगढ़, खाजूवाला और बीकानेर जैसे प्रमुख स्थानों से होकर 16 दिसंबर 2025 को जयपुर पहुंचेगा। यह मार्ग केवल भौगोलिक यात्रा नहीं है, बल्कि उन इलाकों की जनता से सीधा संवाद है जो देश की सीमाओं के रक्षक हैं।
गर्म हवाओं वाले रेतीले क्षेत्रों, सीमा चौकियों, शांत गांवों और उद्यमी शहरों से गुजरते हुए यह रैली भारत की विविधता, संस्कृति और सामरिक मजबूती का जीवंत प्रतीक बनकर उभरती है। हर पड़ाव भारतीय सेना की क्षमता, धैर्य और दृढ़संकल्प की कहानी कहता है।
