Success Talks: Four Speakers Ignite the Audience with Their Inspiring Stories

“He threw acid on my face in broad daylight. He changed my appearance but not my spirit. At that time, I ensured he received a 10-year sentence, even when there was no law for such crimes in the country. And today, where I stand is no less than a death sentence for him.”

As soon as acid attack survivor Laxmi, known for inspiring the Bollywood film Chhapaak, uttered these words, the open-air theater at Ravindra Rangmanch erupted in thunderous applause. The same enthusiasm and emotional response resonated throughout the Success Talks event as all four speakers shared their life struggles and triumphs.

On Sunday, Success Talks, an event under the Positive Journalism program by Khabar Update, was held at Ravindra Rangmanch in Bikaner. The event featured four prominent speakers—Padma Shri awardee and Kalbelia dancer Gulabo Sapera, acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, social activist Dr. Kriti Bharti, and senior academician Dr. Tanushree Mukherjee. Their powerful narratives left the audience deeply moved and inspired.

The first session of the event featured Dr. Tanushree Mukherjee, a senior academician and cancer survivor, Padma Shri awardee Gulabo Sapera, internationally recognized activist Dr. Kriti Bharti, and motivational speaker and acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Throughout the session, the audience experienced a rollercoaster of emotions—some moments brought tears, while others ignited passion and determination. The enthusiasm for Success Talks was evident among the attendees.

This was the second edition of Success Talks in Bikaner, with a diverse audience that included students from universities, colleges, coaching institutes, and intellectuals from the city. The program began with a documentary film showcasing Khabar Update’s innovative contributions to journalism.

Following this, Mahant Vimarsanand Giri of Laleshwar Mahadev Temple delivered an address, defining the true meaning of success.

The Vision Behind Success Talks

Explaining the event’s purpose, Khabar Update’s Editor-in-Chief Hem Sharma stated,
“Khabar Update has always taken an unconventional approach to journalism. Whether it was our documentary film on Bikaner’s overall development or our efforts to establish Kolayat as a religious tourism destination, we strive to make a difference. Success Talks is an extension of this ‘Positive Journalism’ initiative, providing a platform for role models to inspire the masses. We need the love and support of Bikaner for this mission to continue.”

In the second session, Success Talks founder Sumit Sharma interviewed the speakers and facilitated audience interactions. He explained,
“This platform for Positive Journalism was launched in 2021. In the first Success Talks event in Bikaner, we invited Padma Shri awardee Shyam Sundar Paliwal from Piplantri village, BBC Senior Journalist Sarika Singh, and motivational speaker Roshan Nagar. The overwhelming response encouraged us to expand this initiative. So far, we have shared over 45 inspiring stories, featuring Padma awardees, IAS officers, and top professionals from various fields. We now aim to take this platform to other cities across India so that the success stories of ordinary individuals can inspire and uplift society.”

Speakers’ Reactions to Success Talks

All four speakers and esteemed guests at the event praised the Success Talks platform.

Laxmi Agarwal expressed her appreciation, stating,
“The concept of Success Talks is brilliant. This platform is also available on YouTube, ensuring a global reach. I am confident that in the coming years, millions will be inspired by it.”

Gulabo Sapera shared an emotional connection with Khabar Update, revealing,
“During the COVID-19 crisis, Khabar Update helped me by raising my voice to the Indian government, which led to the restoration of my electricity connection. I dream of establishing a Kalbelia Dance Gharana to promote this art form worldwide. Sitting here in Bikaner, I urge Khabar Update to convey my appeal to the local MP and Union Minister, so my dream can become a reality. Additionally, many talented small-scale artists in Rajasthan deserve a platform like Success Talks to gain wider recognition.”

Dr. Kriti Bharti extended her blessings and best wishes, saying,
“Swami Vimarsanand Ji Maharaj has wished for Success Talks to complete 1008 sessions. I also pray for this milestone to be achieved so that this platform continues to spread positivity worldwide.”

Dr. Tanushree Mukherjee shared her personal admiration for the initiative, stating,
“I have always loved the concept of Success Talks. Even though I am here as a speaker today, I found immense inspiration from the other speakers. Additionally, I take pride in the fact that Success Talks founder Sumit Sharma is an alumnus of our Amity University. My best wishes will always be with this initiative.”
