Tamil Nadu Flood Relief & Rescue Efforts – Indian Navy

The Indian Naval ground and aerial rescue & relief teams have been augmenting the flood relief operations by the local administration in Tamil Nadu.

The Rescue & Relief operations are being undertaken by Flood Relief Teams and by the Naval Helicopters & aircraft deployed from local units (INS Parandu & INS Kattabomman)

Of more than 100 stranded personnel moved to safer locations, 17 were evacuated by the ALH deployed from INS Parandu (incl 3 pregnant ladies).

Indian Naval Dornier from Chennai, has been deployed for transportation of approx 400 kgs of relief material (provided by State Govt) to Tuticorin airport, followed by onward distribution/Air drop by Chetak helicopters (from Parundu).

Additionally, another 3500 kgs of relief material has been transferred from Rameshwaram to Madurai by the Naval teams for further distribution.

Indian Navy (under aegis of HQ Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area) is continuously providing assistance & augmenting the relief efforts as required by the State Administration.
