Nation Salutes Its Veterans as the Indian Army Leads Grand Celebrations Across Military Stations
Veteran’s Day was celebrated across India with deep reverence, patriotic fervour and a strong sense of gratitude, as the Indian Army organised a series of commemorative and welfare events at military stations and establishments in New Delhi, Jaipur, Amritsar, Lucknow, Ranchi, Rajouri and several other locations. The day was dedicated to honouring the invaluable contributions of Veterans, Veer Naris and the families of fallen soldiers who have served the nation with distinction. These events highlighted the Army’s enduring commitment to its extended military family and reaffirmed the bond between the armed forces and the citizens they protect.
Jaipur Takes Centre Stage Under South Western Command
At Jaipur Military Station, the main Veteran’s Day commemorations were held under the aegis of South Western Command and were presided over by General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS). The city witnessed a dignified and emotionally charged ceremony that brought together serving personnel, retired soldiers, Veer Naris, civil administration officials and representatives from various welfare organisations. The presence of the Army Chief underlined the importance the Indian Army places on honouring its Veterans and ensuring their continued welfare.
Army Veteran’s Day Lunch Becomes a Platform for Gratitude and Connection
General Upendra Dwivedi attended the Army Veteran’s Day Lunch at the Polo Ground, Jaipur Military Station, where he interacted personally with Veterans and Veer Naris. The gathering served as a heartfelt platform to acknowledge their sacrifices, bravery and lifelong dedication to the nation’s security. During the event, the COAS felicitated officials of the Zila Sainik Boards who have worked tirelessly to resolve veterans’ issues and improve access to welfare schemes. He also released the magazine “Samman”, prepared by the Directorate of Indian Army Veterans, which documents the achievements, experiences and ongoing contributions of the veteran community.
AWWA Honours Veer Naris and Veer Matas
Mrs Sunita Dwivedi, President of the Army Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA), played a prominent role in the celebrations by felicitating Veer Naris and Veer Matas. Her interaction with the families of fallen soldiers reflected the Army’s compassionate approach towards those who have lost their loved ones in service of the nation. The recognition symbolised the Army’s promise to stand by its families not only during service but for life.
COAS Pays Tribute to Martyrs and Reaffirms Welfare Commitment
In his address, General Dwivedi conveyed warm greetings to Veterans, Veer Naris and their families, while paying solemn tribute to the Bravehearts who laid down their lives for India. He reaffirmed that the welfare of Veterans and the families of the fallen remains a top priority and a moral obligation of the Indian Army. Emphasising that service to soldiers does not end with retirement, he assured continued support through welfare initiatives, grievance redressal mechanisms and outreach programmes.
Modernisation, Technology and Readiness at the Forefront
Highlighting the evolving character of warfare, the COAS spoke about the Indian Army’s sustained focus on modernisation, technology infusion and operational preparedness. He stressed that while the battlefield is changing rapidly with the introduction of drones, cyber capabilities and advanced weapon systems, the Army continues to uphold its timeless values of honour, courage and duty. This balance between tradition and transformation, he said, defines the strength of the Indian Army.
Veterans as Lifelong Ambassadors of the Army’s Ethos
General Dwivedi described Veterans as role models and lifelong ambassadors of the Indian Army’s ethos. He urged them to continue engaging with youth, schools and community institutions to inspire discipline, unity and national pride. According to him, the stories of Veterans serve as powerful lessons in leadership, resilience and patriotism for future generations.
Civil Administration’s Role in Veteran Welfare Recognised
The COAS expressed sincere gratitude to the civil administration and all stakeholders for their support in strengthening Veteran outreach and welfare initiatives. He acknowledged the crucial role played by district authorities, welfare boards and NGOs in ensuring that veterans receive timely assistance, healthcare support and access to government schemes.
Army Investiture Ceremony Honours Gallantry and Excellence
Later in the day, a separate Army Investiture Ceremony was आयोजित, where General Dwivedi conferred gallantry awards, COAS citations and commendations to brave soldiers and outstanding units. The ceremony honoured those who have demonstrated exceptional courage, dedication and professionalism in the line of duty.
Sena Medals and Unit Citations Recognise Battlefield Bravery
The highlights of the Investiture Ceremony included the presentation of 10 Sena Medals (Gallantry) and 49 COAS Unit Citations. These awards recognised acts of bravery, leadership and operational excellence displayed by soldiers and units across various Commands of the Indian Army. The recipients were applauded for upholding the highest standards of service under challenging conditions.
Special Recognition for Operation SINDOOR Units
In addition, COAS Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to 60 units, including 26 units that played a key role during Operation SINDOOR. These commendations acknowledged the strategic effectiveness, coordination and commitment demonstrated by the units during critical operational deployments.
Honouring Contributions Beyond the Battlefield
Recognising that service to the nation extends beyond combat, six Veteran Achievers and three civilians were also felicitated for their distinguished contributions in support of the Indian Army. Their efforts in areas such as social service, veteran welfare, administration and community engagement were appreciated as vital pillars of national strength.
Army Day 2026 Celebrations to Continue in Jaipur
The celebrations will continue on 15 January 2026 with the grand Army Day Parade at Mahal Road, Jaipur, followed by the spectacular Shaurya Sandhya at Sawai Man Singh Stadium. These events will showcase the Indian Army’s professionalism, operational preparedness and its deep-rooted bond with the people of India.
A Nation United in Gratitude and Respect
Veteran’s Day 2026 reaffirmed that India remains forever indebted to its soldiers—past and present. The ceremonies across the country served as a reminder that the sacrifices of Veterans, martyrs and their families are not forgotten, and that the Indian Army stands firmly committed to honouring their legacy with dignity, respect and unwavering support.

पूर्व सैनिक दिवस के अवसर पर भारतीय सेना ने देशभर के सैन्य स्टेशनों और प्रतिष्ठानों पर सम्मान, गौरव और देशभक्ति की भावना के साथ कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन किया। नई दिल्ली, जयपुर, अमृतसर, लखनऊ, रांची, राजौरी सहित अनेक स्थानों पर पूर्व सैनिकों, वीर नारियों और शहीदों के परिजनों के लिए विशेष कल्याणकारी कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए गए। इन आयोजनों के माध्यम से भारतीय सेना ने यह संदेश दिया कि राष्ट्र अपने उन सपूतों को कभी नहीं भूलता, जिन्होंने देश की सुरक्षा के लिए अपना जीवन समर्पित किया।
दक्षिण पश्चिम कमान के तत्वावधान में जयपुर बना मुख्य केंद्र
जयपुर मिलिट्री स्टेशन में दक्षिण पश्चिम कमान के तत्वावधान में आयोजित मुख्य समारोह की अध्यक्षता सेनाध्यक्ष जनरल उपेन्द्र द्विवेदी ने की। कार्यक्रम में बड़ी संख्या में पूर्व सैनिक, वीर नारियाँ, सेवारत सैनिक, सिविल प्रशासन के अधिकारी और विभिन्न कल्याण संगठनों के प्रतिनिधि शामिल हुए। सेनाध्यक्ष की उपस्थिति ने इस आयोजन को विशेष महत्व प्रदान किया और यह स्पष्ट किया कि भारतीय सेना अपने पूर्व सैनिकों के सम्मान और कल्याण को सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता देती है।
वेटरन्स डे लंच बना भावनात्मक जुड़ाव का मंच
पोलो ग्राउंड, जयपुर मिलिट्री स्टेशन में आयोजित आर्मी वेटरन्स डे लंच के दौरान सेनाध्यक्ष ने पूर्व सैनिकों और वीर नारियों से आत्मीय संवाद किया। उन्होंने राष्ट्र की सुरक्षा में उनके अमूल्य योगदान के लिए आभार व्यक्त किया और कहा कि भारतीय सेना की गौरवशाली परंपराएँ उनके त्याग और सेवा से ही बनी हैं। इस अवसर पर जिला सैनिक बोर्ड के उन अधिकारियों को भी सम्मानित किया गया, जिन्होंने पूर्व सैनिकों से जुड़ी समस्याओं के समाधान में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई। साथ ही भारतीय सेना पूर्व सैनिक निदेशालय द्वारा प्रकाशित ‘सम्मान’ पत्रिका का विमोचन भी किया गया।
वीर नारियों और वीर माताओं को AWWA की ओर से सम्मान
आर्मी वूमेंस वेलफेयर एसोसिएशन (AWWA) की अध्यक्षा श्रीमती सुनीता द्विवेदी ने वीर नारियों और वीर माताओं को सम्मानित किया। यह सम्मान केवल औपचारिक नहीं था, बल्कि यह उस भावनात्मक जुड़ाव और संवेदनशीलता का प्रतीक था, जिसके साथ भारतीय सेना अपने शहीदों के परिवारों के साथ खड़ी रहती है।
शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि, कल्याण के संकल्प की पुनः पुष्टि
अपने संबोधन में सेनाध्यक्ष ने शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करते हुए कहा कि पूर्व सैनिकों और शहीद परिवारों का कल्याण भारतीय सेना की नैतिक जिम्मेदारी है। उन्होंने आश्वासन दिया कि सेवा समाप्त होने के बाद भी सैनिक और उनके परिवार सेना के परिवार का हिस्सा बने रहते हैं और उनकी देखभाल लगातार की जाती है।
आधुनिक युद्ध, तकनीक और तैयारियों पर जोर
जनरल द्विवेदी ने बदलते युद्ध परिदृश्य का उल्लेख करते हुए सेना के आधुनिकीकरण, तकनीकी समावेशन और ऑपरेशनल तत्परता पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने कहा कि आधुनिक तकनीकों के बावजूद सेना अपने मूल मूल्यों—सम्मान, साहस और कर्तव्य—को कभी नहीं छोड़ती।
पूर्व सैनिक: सेना के आजीवन दूत
सेनाध्यक्ष ने पूर्व सैनिकों को सेना की परंपराओं का आजीवन दूत बताते हुए उनसे युवाओं और समाज को प्रेरित करने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा कि पूर्व सैनिकों के अनुभव और जीवन मूल्य आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए प्रेरणा स्रोत हैं।
सिविल प्रशासन की भूमिका को मिला सम्मान
सेनाध्यक्ष ने पूर्व सैनिक कल्याण योजनाओं को सफल बनाने में सिविल प्रशासन, जिला अधिकारियों और विभिन्न संगठनों के योगदान की सराहना की। उन्होंने कहा कि सेना और नागरिक प्रशासन के सहयोग से ही पूर्व सैनिकों तक योजनाओं का लाभ पहुंचाया जा रहा है।
सेना अलंकरण समारोह में वीरता और उत्कृष्ट सेवा का सम्मान
दिन के उत्तरार्द्ध में आयोजित सेना अलंकरण समारोह में सेनाध्यक्ष ने वीर सैनिकों और उत्कृष्ट यूनिट्स को सम्मानित किया। यह समारोह उन योद्धाओं को समर्पित था, जिन्होंने देश सेवा में अद्वितीय साहस और समर्पण का परिचय दिया।
10 सेना मेडल और 49 यूनिट प्रशस्ति पत्र प्रदान
समारोह के मुख्य आकर्षणों में 10 सेना मेडल (वीरता) और 49 सेनाध्यक्ष यूनिट प्रशस्ति पत्र शामिल रहे। ये सम्मान विभिन्न कमानों की उन यूनिट्स को दिए गए, जिन्होंने चुनौतीपूर्ण परिस्थितियों में उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन किया।
ऑपरेशन सिंदूर की यूनिट्स को विशेष सम्मान
इसके अतिरिक्त, 60 यूनिट्स को सेनाध्यक्ष प्रशंसा प्रमाण पत्र प्रदान किए गए, जिनमें ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के लिए 26 यूनिट्स शामिल थीं। यह सम्मान ऑपरेशनल सफलता और रणनीतिक कौशल की पहचान था।
युद्ध से परे सेवा करने वालों का सम्मान
सेना ने यह भी दर्शाया कि राष्ट्र सेवा केवल युद्धभूमि तक सीमित नहीं है। छह पूर्व सैनिक उपलब्धि विजेताओं और तीन नागरिकों को समाज सेवा, प्रशासन और सेना सहयोग के लिए सम्मानित किया गया।
15 जनवरी को जयपुर में आर्मी डे परेड और शौर्य संध्या
समारोहों की श्रृंखला 15 जनवरी 2026 को जयपुर में आयोजित होने वाली भव्य आर्मी डे परेड और शौर्य संध्या के साथ जारी रहेगी, जहाँ भारतीय सेना अपनी पेशेवर दक्षता, ऑपरेशनल तत्परता और नागरिकों से अपने मजबूत संबंधों का प्रदर्शन करेगी।
राष्ट्र का आभार, सेना का संकल्प
पूर्व सैनिक दिवस 2026 ने यह स्पष्ट कर दिया कि भारत अपने वीरों को कभी नहीं भूलता। यह दिन सम्मान, कृतज्ञता और राष्ट्रीय एकता का प्रतीक बनकर उभरा।
