शिमला में आयोजित भव्य समारोह ने भारतीय सेना की बदलती प्रशिक्षण सोच को किया प्रदर्शित
आर्मी ट्रेनिंग कमांड (ARTRAC) का अलंकरण समारोह 2026, 24 मार्च 2026 को शिमला स्थित डैन्फे ऑडिटोरियम में पूरे सैन्य गरिमा और अनुशासन के साथ आयोजित किया गया। इस महत्वपूर्ण समारोह की अध्यक्षता आर्मी ट्रेनिंग कमांड के जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग-इन-चीफ लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल देवेंद्र शर्मा ने की। यह आयोजन केवल पुरस्कार वितरण तक सीमित नहीं था, बल्कि यह भारतीय सेना की उस बदलती सोच और रणनीति का प्रतीक भी था, जिसमें प्रशिक्षण, तकनीक और भविष्य की युद्ध आवश्यकताओं को एक साथ जोड़ा जा रहा है। इस समारोह में देशभर के प्रमुख सैन्य प्रशिक्षण संस्थानों, वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों और उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन करने वाले सैनिकों की उपस्थिति ने इसे और भी विशेष बना दिया।

समारोह का सबसे अहम क्षण वह रहा जब चार प्रमुख श्रेणी ‘ए’ प्रशिक्षण संस्थानों—आर्मी एयर डिफेंस कॉलेज, आर्मर्ड कोर सेंटर एंड स्कूल, मैकेनाइज्ड इन्फैंट्री सेंटर एंड स्कूल और राष्ट्रीय इंडियन मिलिट्री कॉलेज—को प्रतिष्ठित यूनिट प्रशस्ति प्रदान की गई। ये संस्थान भारतीय सेना की प्रशिक्षण व्यवस्था की रीढ़ माने जाते हैं, जहां भविष्य के सैन्य नेताओं और विशेषज्ञों को तैयार किया जाता है। इसके अलावा 269 इंजीनियर रेजिमेंट और 665 आर्मी एविएशन स्क्वाड्रन (R&O) जैसी संबद्ध इकाइयों को भी इस सम्मान से नवाजा गया, जो इस बात का संकेत है कि प्रशिक्षण और वास्तविक सैन्य संचालन के बीच तालमेल कितना महत्वपूर्ण है।

इस समारोह में केवल सैन्य कौशल ही नहीं, बल्कि प्रशासनिक दक्षता और तकनीकी उन्नति को भी समान महत्व दिया गया। कॉम्बैट आर्मी एविएशन ट्रेनिंग स्कूल, जूनियर लीडर अकादमी और कॉलेज ऑफ मिलिट्री इंजीनियरिंग को वित्तीय उत्कृष्टता पुरस्कार प्रदान किए गए, जिससे यह स्पष्ट होता है कि संसाधनों का सही उपयोग भी आधुनिक सेना की प्राथमिकताओं में शामिल है। वहीं मिलिट्री कॉलेज ऑफ टेलीकम्युनिकेशन इंजीनियरिंग और मैकेनाइज्ड इन्फैंट्री सेंटर एंड स्कूल को डिजिटाइजेशन और ऑटोमेशन के क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्ट कार्य के लिए सम्मानित किया गया, जो यह दर्शाता है कि भारतीय सेना तेजी से डिजिटल और नेटवर्क आधारित युद्ध प्रणाली की ओर बढ़ रही है।
नवाचार को मिला बढ़ावा, तकनीकी उत्कृष्टता पुरस्कारों से उभरी आत्मनिर्भरता की झलक
समारोह में नवाचार और तकनीकी विकास को विशेष महत्व दिया गया, जहां पैन-इंडियन आर्मी स्तर की प्रतियोगिता में चयनित 11 नवप्रवर्तकों को तकनीकी उत्कृष्टता पुरस्कार प्रदान किए गए। यह पहल भारतीय सेना के भीतर स्वदेशी समाधान विकसित करने की सोच को मजबूत करती है और ‘आत्मनिर्भर भारत’ के विजन को भी आगे बढ़ाती है। इसके अतिरिक्त 16 सैनिकों और अधिकारियों को उनकी विशिष्ट सेवा के लिए स्पॉट प्रशंसा पत्र दिए गए, जो सेना में उत्कृष्टता और समर्पण की संस्कृति को और मजबूत करते हैं।
ड्रोन अब युद्ध का अभिन्न हिस्सा, ऑपरेशन सिंदूर से मिले अनुभवों का असर
समारोह को संबोधित करते हुए आर्मी कमांडर ने आधुनिक युद्ध में ड्रोन की बढ़ती भूमिका पर विशेष जोर दिया। उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि ड्रोन अब केवल सहायक उपकरण नहीं रहे, बल्कि युद्धक्षेत्र की अनिवार्य आवश्यकता बन चुके हैं। हालिया अभियानों, जिनमें ऑपरेशन सिंदूर भी शामिल है, से मिले अनुभवों के आधार पर उन्होंने बताया कि आर्मी ट्रेनिंग कमांड ने अब तक 50,000 से अधिक सैन्य कर्मियों को ड्रोन संचालन का प्रशिक्षण दिया है। यह आंकड़ा इस बात का प्रमाण है कि भारतीय सेना भविष्य की युद्ध चुनौतियों के लिए कितनी तेजी से खुद को तैयार कर रही है।
‘डिकेड ऑफ ट्रांसफॉर्मेशन’ के तहत 57 पहलें, सेना को बना रही हैं भविष्य के लिए तैयार
आर्मी कमांडर ने ‘डिकेड ऑफ ट्रांसफॉर्मेशन’ के तहत चल रही 57 प्रमुख पहलों का भी उल्लेख किया, जो सेना के प्रशिक्षण और संचालन प्रणाली में व्यापक बदलाव ला रही हैं। ये पहलें पांच मुख्य स्तंभों पर आधारित हैं, जिनका उद्देश्य तकनीकी क्षमता बढ़ाना, प्रशिक्षण प्रणाली को आधुनिक बनाना, मानव संसाधन विकास को सशक्त करना और सेना को अधिक सक्षम एवं लचीला बनाना है। यह रणनीति भारतीय सेना को पारंपरिक युद्ध से आगे बढ़ाकर आधुनिक और तकनीकी युद्ध के लिए तैयार कर रही है।
2030 तक 33 विशेष तकनीकों पर फोकस, 15 संस्थान बनेंगे ‘सेंटर ऑफ एक्सपर्टीज’
समारोह में यह भी बताया गया कि 15 प्रशिक्षण संस्थानों को ‘सेंटर ऑफ एक्सपर्टीज’ के रूप में विकसित किया जा रहा है, जो वर्ष 2030 तक 33 विशिष्ट तकनीकों को अपनाने में अग्रणी भूमिका निभाएंगे। इनमें आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस, साइबर वारफेयर, रोबोटिक्स और एडवांस सर्विलांस जैसी तकनीकें शामिल हैं। यह पहल भारतीय सेना को तकनीकी रूप से मजबूत बनाने के साथ-साथ उसे वैश्विक स्तर पर प्रतिस्पर्धी बनाए रखने में भी मदद करेगी।
‘विदुर वक्ता’ पहल से बढ़ेगी रणनीतिक सोच, रेड टीमिंग को मिलेगा संस्थागत रूप
आर्मी कमांडर ने ‘विदुर वक्ता’ पहल का भी जिक्र किया, जो रेड टीमिंग की अवधारणा पर आधारित है। इसका उद्देश्य सैन्य रणनीति में वैकल्पिक सोच को बढ़ावा देना और संभावित खतरों की पहचान करना है। इस पहल को वर्ष 2027 तक पूरे भारतीय सेना स्तर पर लागू करने की योजना है। इससे निर्णय लेने की प्रक्रिया और अधिक सटीक और प्रभावी होगी, जो आधुनिक युद्ध के जटिल परिदृश्यों में बेहद महत्वपूर्ण है।
डिजिटल बदलाव की ओर कदम, ऑनलाइन परीक्षा प्रणाली से आएगी पारदर्शिता
COAS चतुर्वार्षिक प्रशिक्षण निदेश (2025–2029) के तहत पदोन्नति और प्रतियोगी परीक्षाओं को ऑनलाइन माध्यम में परिवर्तित करने की दिशा में भी महत्वपूर्ण कदम उठाए जा रहे हैं। यह बदलाव न केवल पारदर्शिता को बढ़ाएगा, बल्कि पूरी प्रक्रिया को अधिक तेज़ और कुशल बनाएगा। डिजिटल प्लेटफॉर्म के माध्यम से प्रशिक्षण और मूल्यांकन प्रणाली को आधुनिक बनाया जा रहा है, जो भविष्य की जरूरतों के अनुरूप है।
लैंगिक समानता और सैन्य कूटनीति पर जोर, सेना का बढ़ता वैश्विक दृष्टिकोण
समारोह के दौरान आर्मी ट्रेनिंग कमांड की लैंगिक समानता के प्रति प्रतिबद्धता को भी दोहराया गया। महिलाओं को सेना में अधिक अवसर देने और उन्हें विभिन्न भूमिकाओं में शामिल करने की दिशा में लगातार प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं। इसके साथ ही सैन्य कूटनीति के तहत अंतरराष्ट्रीय सहयोग, संयुक्त अभ्यास और प्रशिक्षण आदान-प्रदान को भी बढ़ावा दिया जा रहा है, जिससे भारत की वैश्विक सैन्य स्थिति मजबूत हो रही है।

A Prestigious Ceremony in Shimla Reflects the Indian Army’s Evolving Training Vision
The Army Training Command (ARTRAC) Investiture Ceremony 2026 was held with full military decorum at the Danfe Auditorium in Shimla on 24 March 2026, marking a significant milestone in the Indian Army’s ongoing transformation journey. The ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ARTRAC, and brought together senior military leadership, decorated personnel, and representatives from key training establishments across the country. The event was not merely a ceremonial recognition of excellence but a reflection of the Indian Army’s evolving training philosophy, which is increasingly focused on technology integration, adaptability, and future battlefield readiness. It highlighted how training institutions are playing a central role in shaping a modern, agile, and technologically empowered force.
Top Training Institutions Recognised for Excellence and Operational Preparedness
A major highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the prestigious GOC-in-C ARTRAC Unit Citation to four Category ‘A’ training establishments—Army Air Defence College, Armoured Corps Centre and School, Mechanised Infantry Centre and School, and Rashtriya Indian Military College. These institutions have consistently demonstrated excellence in training standards, leadership development, and operational preparedness, forming the backbone of the Indian Army’s training ecosystem. Their recognition signifies not only past achievements but also their continued role in preparing future military leaders and specialists for complex operational environments. Additionally, two affiliated operational units, 269 Engineer Regiment and 665 Army Aviation Squadron (R&O), were also honoured, underlining the importance of synergy between training institutions and field units in achieving overall operational effectiveness.

The ceremony also emphasised the Indian Army’s focus on efficiency, accountability, and technological advancement. Financial Excellence Awards were presented to Combat Army Aviation Training School, Junior Leader Academy, and College of Military Engineering, recognising their exemplary financial management and optimal utilisation of resources. In the domain of digital transformation, the Digitisation and Automation Excellence Award was conferred upon Military College of Telecommunication Engineering and Mechanised Infantry Centre and School, showcasing the Army’s shift towards network-centric training systems and automated processes. These recognitions indicate a broader institutional push to modernise administrative and training frameworks in line with global military standards.
Innovation at the Core: Technical Excellence Awards Encourage Indigenous Solutions
Innovation emerged as a central theme during the ceremony, with eleven Technical Excellence Awards being presented to selected innovators from across the Indian Army. These awards were the result of a competitive pan-India selection process and highlighted the growing emphasis on indigenous technological solutions within the force. The recognition of innovation at various levels reflects the Army’s commitment to self-reliance and its intent to encourage personnel to contribute creatively to operational and training challenges. In addition, sixteen individuals were awarded GOC-in-C Spot Commendation Cards for their distinguished service, further reinforcing a culture of excellence and dedication.
Drone Warfare Becomes Central to Modern Combat Training Doctrine
In his address, the Army Commander placed significant emphasis on the role of drones in modern warfare, stating that unmanned systems have now become a battlefield necessity rather than a supplementary capability. Drawing from lessons of recent operations, including Operation Sindoor, he highlighted how the nature of warfare is rapidly evolving with the integration of drone technology. ARTRAC has responded proactively by establishing a robust drone training infrastructure, through which more than 50,000 personnel have already been trained in drone operations. This large-scale training effort underscores the urgency with which the Indian Army is adapting to emerging threats and preparing its personnel for technologically driven combat scenarios.
Decade of Transformation: A Structured Push Towards Future Readiness
The Army Commander elaborated on ARTRAC’s comprehensive roadmap under the “Decade of Transformation,” which includes 57 initiatives designed to modernise the Army’s training and operational frameworks. These initiatives are structured around five key pillars that aim to enhance capability development, integrate advanced technologies, reform training doctrines, and strengthen human resource management. This structured approach reflects a long-term vision to transition from traditional training methodologies to a more dynamic, responsive, and future-oriented system that can meet the demands of evolving warfare environments.
Centres of Expertise to Drive Adoption of Advanced Military Technologies
A significant forward-looking initiative highlighted during the ceremony was the development of 15 training establishments as specialised Centres of Expertise. These centres are being prepared to absorb and operationalise 33 niche technologies by the year 2030. This move represents a strategic investment in future warfare capabilities, including areas such as artificial intelligence, cyber warfare, robotics, and advanced surveillance systems. By institutionalising expertise in these domains, the Indian Army aims to maintain technological superiority and ensure that its personnel are equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and skills.
‘Vidur Vakta’ Initiative and Red Teaming to Strengthen Strategic Thinking
The Army Commander also spoke about the ‘Vidur Vakta’ initiative, a red teaming concept aimed at fostering critical thinking and alternative analysis within the Army. This initiative is expected to be institutionalised across the force by 2027 and will enable military planners and commanders to challenge conventional assumptions, identify vulnerabilities, and improve decision-making processes. Such initiatives are particularly relevant in the context of modern warfare, where unpredictability and asymmetric threats require innovative and flexible strategic responses.
Digital Transition in Training and Examinations Marks a New Era of Efficiency
Another important reform highlighted during the ceremony was the transition of promotion and competitive examinations to an online mode, as part of the COAS Quadrennial Training Directive 2025–2029. This shift reflects the Army’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and digital integration. By leveraging digital platforms, the Army aims to streamline administrative processes and ensure a more efficient and accessible system for personnel across various ranks and formations.
Commitment to Gender Neutrality and Expanding Military Diplomacy
The Army Training Command also reaffirmed its commitment to gender neutrality, emphasising the importance of providing equal opportunities to all personnel irrespective of gender. This includes expanding roles and responsibilities for women within the Army’s training and operational frameworks. Additionally, the Army Commander highlighted ongoing efforts in military diplomacy, which involve training exchanges, joint exercises, and collaboration with friendly foreign nations. These initiatives are crucial in strengthening India’s defence partnerships and enhancing interoperability with global forces.

Congratulating the awardees, the Army Commander praised their intellectual contributions, dedication, and commitment to excellence. He urged all members of ARTRAC to adopt a mindset of continuous learning, adaptability, and innovation in order to keep pace with rapidly evolving military technologies and operational challenges. He reiterated that the essence of modern military success lies in the ability to learn, unlearn, and relearn in response to changing battlefield dynamics.
