Suratgarh/Naliya/New Delhi | 19 May 2025 – In a commanding display of operational oversight and national gratitude, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan conducted a comprehensive visit to the forward-most military formations of India’s western frontier. This high-level tour included Suratgarh Military Station in Rajasthan and Naliya Air Force Station in Gujarat, both crucial nodes in India’s western operational theatre.
The visit comes in the immediate aftermath of Operation Sindoor, an intense and high-tempo tri-services military response that successfully repelled repeated cross-border intrusions and sabotage attempts by India’s western adversary. The operation not only revalidated India’s strike and surveillance capabilities but also laid bare the seamless coordination among the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and intelligence assets.
General Chauhan was accompanied by an elite entourage comprising Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Command, Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Air Command, and Major General A.K. Pundeer, VSM, SM, General Officer Commanding of the strategically critical 24 Division Bikaner.
Ground-Level Command & Morale Review
The CDS’s visit was marked by multiple high-impact interactions with frontline troops, unit commanders, and airmen. General Chauhan reviewed forward deployment readiness, surveillance integration, quick-reaction mobility grids, and strategic air-defence overlays. His words to the soldiers were not mere formality—they resonated with experience, conviction, and genuine respect.
“You are the sword-arm of the nation. The way you held your ground and turned adversity into dominance during Operation Sindoor is an example for generations,” he remarked.
He further emphasized that vigilance must be constant, and that joint operations are now the baseline, not an exception.
Suratgarh: Gateway to the Desert Front
Suratgarh has long been a focal point for India’s desert warfare capability. During Operation Sindoor, the sector saw extensive use of air-land battle coordination, enhanced surveillance UAVs, and network-centric warfare nodes. General Chauhan was briefed on how quick reaction air-defence (QRAD) systems, Loitering Munitions, and camouflaged forward operating bases (FOBs) contributed to thwarting hostile attempts.
The CDS inspected troop accommodations, weapons readiness, mobility platforms, and command post integration. A closed-door strategy session with field commanders underlined future escalation scenarios and response timelines.
Naliya: The Shield in the Sky
At Naliya Air Force Station, General Chauhan witnessed operational readiness drills, including air interdiction simulations, low-altitude radar net operations, and precision-guided deployment exercises. He also reviewed deployment of next-generation surface-to-air missile systems (SAMs) and fighter aircraft dispersal protocols.
Air Marshal Kapoor updated the CDS on new induction of AI-integrated command systems, fighter sortie readiness rates, and joint coordination with Army air-defence detachments.
24 Division Bikaner: Pillar of Desert Deterrence
it is important to highlight that 24 Division Bikaner, under Major General Pundeer, played a pivotal supporting role during Operation Sindoor. Their high-mobility reserve, rapid deployment columns, and surveillance detachments provided both rear-area stability and forward logistic depth.
This division is a critical plug in the multi-tier defence grid stretching from Barmer to Bikaner and has been instrumental in forming mobile reaction buffers in case of escalation.
Tri-Services Synergy & Civilian Support
One of the most remarkable aspects of the visit was the visible inter-service camaraderie. General Chauhan lauded the fact that Indian forces today function as one composite instrument, capable of 360-degree response with real-time command integration.
He extended warm appreciation to local civil administrations, especially in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Kutch, for providing agile logistics, power, water, and infrastructure support during the operation. “Civil-military synergy is the fourth pillar of defence,” he said.
Message to the Nation and Adversaries
The visit reaffirmed India’s commitment to active deterrence, territorial integrity, and readiness to respond with decisive force. It also sent a clear diplomatic signal: India’s military will operate preemptively if provoked.

सूरतगढ़/नलिया/नई दिल्ली | 19 मई 2025 – चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ (सीडीएस) जनरल अनिल चौहान ने आज भारत की पश्चिमी सीमा पर दो प्रमुख अग्रिम सैन्य ठिकानों – सूरतगढ़ सैन्य स्टेशन (राजस्थान) और नलिया वायुसेना स्टेशन (गुजरात) – का दौरा कर ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के बाद की सैन्य तैयारियों, समन्वय और सैनिकों के मनोबल की गहन समीक्षा की।
यह दौरा उस समय हुआ है जब भारतीय सेनाओं ने हाल ही में एक समन्वित त्रि-सेनात्मक कार्रवाई के तहत ऑपरेशन सिंदूर को अंजाम दिया, जिसमें पाकिस्तान की ओर से की जा रही घुसपैठ, ड्रोन निगरानी और आतंकी घुसपैठ की कई कोशिशों को नाकाम किया गया।
सीडीएस के साथ इस दौरे में साउथ वेस्टर्न कमांड के जीओसी-इन-सी लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल मनजिंदर सिंह, साउथ वेस्टर्न एयर कमांड के एओसी-इन-सी एयर मार्शल नागेश कपूर, और 24 डिवीजन बीकानेर के जीओसी मेजर जनरल ए. के. पुंडीर, वीएसएम, एसएम भी शामिल थे।
सैनिकों के साथ संवाद और रणनीतिक समीक्षा
जनरल चौहान ने सीमा पर तैनात सैनिकों से बातचीत की और उनके साहस, अनुशासन और रणनीतिक सजगता की खुले दिल से प्रशंसा की। उन्होंने कहा:
“आप भारत की सीमा नहीं, भारत की आत्मा की रक्षा कर रहे हैं। ऑपरेशन सिंदूर में आपने न केवल दुश्मन को रोककर दिखाया, बल्कि यह भी दिखाया कि भारतीय सशस्त्र बल किस स्तर की पेशेवर क्षमता और तकनीकी सामर्थ्य रखते हैं।”
सूरतगढ़: रेगिस्तानी सीमा का सुरक्षा कवच
सूरतगढ़ लंबे समय से भारत की रेगिस्तानी युद्ध रणनीति का केंद्र रहा है। ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के दौरान यहां यूएवी निगरानी, संचालित वायु-स्थल समन्वय, और रडार-निर्देशित त्वरित कार्रवाई तंत्र का जबरदस्त उपयोग हुआ। सीडीएस ने यहां तैनात कमांड पोस्ट, कवचयुक्त वाहन, वायु रक्षा प्रणाली, और अग्रिम शिविरों का निरीक्षण किया।
नलिया: पश्चिमी आकाश का प्रहरी
नलिया वायुसेना स्टेशन पर उन्होंने वायु इंटरसेप्शन ड्रिल, कम ऊंचाई पर रडार कवरेज, और सटीक निर्देशित हथियार प्रणाली की समीक्षा की। उन्हें बताया गया कि ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के दौरान नवीनतम सतह से हवा में मार करने वाली मिसाइल प्रणालियाँ, स्मार्ट फाइटर मिशन, और फ्यूजन आधारित निर्णय प्रणाली का सफल परीक्षण हुआ।
24 डिवीजन बीकानेर: गुप्त समर्थन और रणनीतिक स्थिरता
उल्लेखनीय है कि 24 डिवीजन बीकानेर, जो सामरिक दृष्टि से अति महत्वपूर्ण क्षेत्र में तैनात है, ने ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के दौरान गतिशील रणनीतिक बैकअप, लॉजिस्टिक सपोर्ट, और निगरानी दल के माध्यम से अहम भूमिका निभाई।
तीनों सेनाओं का तालमेल और नागरिक प्रशासन का सहयोग
जनरल चौहान ने सेना, वायुसेना और खुफिया एजेंसियों के बीच बेहतर तालमेल की सराहना की और कहा कि “आज की लड़ाइयाँ अकेले नहीं जीती जातीं, बल्कि संयुक्त शक्ति और सूचना-आधारित प्रतिक्रिया प्रणाली से लड़ी जाती हैं।”
उन्होंने जैसलमेर, बाड़मेर, बीकानेर और कच्छ के जिला प्रशासन का भी आभार जताया, जिन्होंने ऑपरेशन के दौरान आवश्यक सड़क, संचार और जल संसाधन सहयोग प्रदान किया।
