INDIAN ARMY’S SOUTH WESTERN COMMAND CELEBRATES
ITS 20th RAISING DAY

South Western Command was raised on 15 April 2005 at Jaipur and was operationalised by the first Army Commander Lieutenant General K Nagraj, PVSM UYSM, ADC on 15 Aug 2005. South Western Command is the seventh and the youngest Command of the Indian Army.
South Western Command, over the last two decades, has set a high benchmark of professionalism and has established a robust posture on the Western Borders with the motto, ‘Sarvada Vijayee Bhava’. The Command is operationally prepared to secure decisive victory at all times.
Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth took over the reins of South Western Command also known as Sapta Shakti Command on 01 November 2023. The Command celebrated its 20th Raising Day with grace and solemnity. Marking two decades since its establishment, the Command stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment of the Indian Army in nation building and in conformity to its motto.
The day was solemnised with a wreath-laying ceremony at Prerna Sthal, where homage was paid to the valiant soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the country. The event was a poignant reminder of the bravery and selflessness that form the core of the Command’s ethos.
Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Command, extended his greetings to all ranks, civilian staff, veterans, and their families. In his address he lauded the exemplary dedication, courage, and sacrifice of all personnel, which has kept the Command’s flag flying high. He also emphasised on professionalism and need for constant evolution to absorb modern technology and improve techniques, tactics & procedure to achieve glory in modern battlefield.
South Western Command has taken, significant strides in operational readiness, specialised training, and infrastructure development. The Command has consistently demonstrated its capability to respond swiftly and efficiently to natural disasters, in providing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to those in need. The welfare of veterans and Veer Naris has also been a priority for the Command, ensuring that their contributions are honoured and their needs are addressed with utmost respect and care.

As the Sapta Shakti Command looks towards the future, it remains steadfast in its resolve to confront new challenges with the same exemplary professionalism and courage that has been its hallmark for the past 20 years. The Command continues to embody its motto, ‘Forever Victorious’, as it safeguards the nation’s integrity and contributes to the enduring legacy of the Indian Army.
