Indian Navy’s INS Teg Docks at Port Victoria, Seychelles: Boosts Maritime Security Ties, Marks National Day Celebrations
Port Victoria/New Delhi | June 27, 2025:
In a significant stride towards strengthening maritime cooperation and bolstering defence ties in the Indian Ocean Region, the stealth frigate INS Teg of the Indian Navy has arrived at Port Victoria, Seychelles, as part of her ongoing operational deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region (SWIOR).
The port call, scheduled from 26 to 30 June 2025, is a testament to India’s growing commitment to ensuring maritime security, enhancing defence cooperation, and supporting partner nations in safeguarding their maritime interests.
Strengthening India-Seychelles Strategic Partnership
During its port stay, INS Teg will engage in a range of activities designed to deepen the longstanding bilateral relationship between India and Seychelles, with a particular focus on maritime security cooperation.
The ship’s Commanding Officer is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on:
- The Chief of Defence Forces of Seychelles.
- The Chief of Staff of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF).
- The High Commissioner of India to Seychelles (HCI).
These high-level interactions will focus on identifying new avenues for collaboration, enhancing interoperability, and reinforcing joint efforts to address common maritime security challenges.
Formal Handover of Defence Equipment and Spares
Further underscoring India’s unwavering support for Seychelles’ defence capabilities, defence equipment and critical spares ferried from India will be formally handed over to the SPDF by the ship’s staff. This initiative reflects India’s consistent efforts to bolster the operational readiness and self-reliance of its maritime partners in the Indian Ocean Region.
Cultural Outreach and Yoga Diplomacy
As part of cultural outreach and fostering people-to-people ties, a special Yoga session will be conducted onboard INS Teg in line with the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
Participants will include:
- Members of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF).
- Indian diaspora residing in Seychelles.
- Officers and crew of INS Teg.
The event will promote wellness, unity, and shared cultural values, further enhancing goodwill between the two nations.
A grand cultural evening is also planned onboard INS Teg, which will see the presence of:
- The High Commissioner of India to Seychelles.
- Senior defence and government officials from Seychelles.
- Other distinguished dignitaries.
Participation in Seychelles’ 49th National Day Celebrations
Highlighting India’s deep-rooted relationship with Seychelles, INS Teg will play an active role in the country’s 49th National Day celebrations on 29 June 2025.
A marching contingent from the ship, accompanied by the renowned Indian Naval Band, will participate in the grand parade.
Additionally, a spectacular flypast by the ship’s integral helicopter is planned, symbolizing India’s enduring friendship with Seychelles and its steadfast support for the sovereignty and security of the island nation.
Joint EEZ Surveillance to Combat Maritime Threats
On conclusion of the port call, INS Teg will embark personnel from the Seychelles Coast Guard (SCG) and undertake joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance from 30 June to 02 July 2025, in collaboration with an SCG ship.
This critical initiative is part of India’s broader commitment to:
- Combating Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing.
- Safeguarding the region’s maritime resources.
- Ensuring the security and stability of the global commons.
Joint surveillance missions such as these are vital for building regional capabilities and maintaining maritime order in the strategically important South West Indian Ocean Region.

INS Teg, a modern stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, is equipped with advanced weapons and sensors, making it a formidable platform for maritime security operations. भारतीय नौसेना का अत्याधुनिक स्टील्थ फ्रिगेट आईएनएस तेग दक्षिण-पश्चिम हिंद महासागर क्षेत्र में अपनी परिचालन तैनाती के तहत सेशेल्स के पोर्ट विक्टोरिया पर पहुंच गया है। यह पोर्ट कॉल 26 जून से 30 जून 2025 तक निर्धारित है, जिसका उद्देश्य भारत और सेशेल्स के बीच समुद्री सुरक्षा सहयोग को और सशक्त बनाना और द्विपक्षीय रक्षा संबंधों को नई ऊंचाई पर ले जाना है।
भारत-सेशेल्स के रणनीतिक संबंधों को नई दिशा
आईएनएस तेग की सेशेल्स यात्रा के दौरान कई महत्वपूर्ण कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाएंगे, जिनमें शामिल हैं:
- सेशेल्स के चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस फोर्सेज से औपचारिक मुलाकात।
- सेशेल्स पीपुल्स डिफेंस फोर्स (SPDF) के चीफ ऑफ स्टाफ से बातचीत।

योग सत्र और सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम से बढ़ेगी सद्भावना
भारत और सेशेल्स के बीच सांस्कृतिक जुड़ाव को बढ़ावा देने के लिए, अंतरराष्ट्रीय योग दिवस 2025 की थीम “एक पृथ्वी, एक स्वास्थ्य” के अनुरूप आईएनएस तेग पर विशेष योग सत्र आयोजित किया जाएगा।

- सेशेल्स पीपुल्स डिफेंस फोर्स (SPDF) के सदस्य।
- सेशेल्स में रह रहे भारतीय प्रवासी।
- आईएनएस तेग के अधिकारी और नौसैनिक।
साथ ही, आईएनएस तेग पर एक भव्य सांस्कृतिक संध्या का आयोजन भी किया जाएगा, जिसमें भारत के उच्चायुक्त, सेशेल्स के वरिष्ठ रक्षा अधिकारी और अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्ति शामिल होंगे।
सेशेल्स के 49वें राष्ट्रीय दिवस समारोह में भारतीय नौसेना की सहभागिता
आईएनएस तेग की तैनाती से भारत और सेशेल्स के गहरे संबंधों की पुष्टि होती है। 29 जून 2025 को सेशेल्स के 49वें राष्ट्रीय दिवस पर:
- आईएनएस तेग का मार्चिंग दल सेशेल्स की भव्य परेड में हिस्सा लेगा।
- प्रसिद्ध भारतीय नौसेना बैंड भी परेड में अपनी प्रस्तुति देगा।
- जहाज के हेलीकॉप्टर द्वारा हवाई प्रदर्शन (फ्लाईपास्ट) किया जाएगा।
यह सहभागिता दोनों देशों के बीच गहरी मित्रता और भारत की सेशेल्स की संप्रभुता एवं सुरक्षा के प्रति प्रतिबद्धता का प्रतीक होगी।
संयुक्त आर्थिक क्षेत्र (EEZ) में संयुक्त गश्त अभियान
पोर्ट कॉल के समापन पर, आईएनएस तेग पर सेशेल्स कोस्ट गार्ड (SCG) के कर्मियों को सवार किया जाएगा और 30 जून से 2 जुलाई 2025 तक सेशेल्स कोस्ट गार्ड के जहाज के साथ मिलकर संयुक्त EEZ निगरानी अभियान चलाया जाएगा।
इस अभियान का उद्देश्य है:
- अवैध, अनियंत्रित और अनियमित (IUU) मछली पकड़ने पर रोक।
- समुद्री संसाधनों की सुरक्षा।
- वैश्विक समुद्री क्षेत्र की शांति एवं स्थिरता सुनिश्चित करना।
