Lieutenant General AVS Rathee, SM, VSM, Assumes Command of Konark Corps as 28th GOC
Jaipur, 17 June 2025 – In a major leadership transition for one of India’s most strategically important strike formations, Lieutenant General AVS Rathee, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, today formally assumed command of the Konark Corps (XII Corps) as its 28th General Officer Commanding (GOC). The ceremonial transfer of command took place at the headquarters of the Corps in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
He takes over from Lieutenant General Mohit Malhotra, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal, who has been widely credited with steering the Corps to new levels of operational preparedness, jointness, and infrastructural innovation during his tenure.
A Decorated Leader with 34 Years of Distinguished Service
Lieutenant General AVS Rathee is an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. With an illustrious career spanning over 34 years, he has held numerous prestigious command and staff appointments. His vast experience spans multiple operational environments, ranging from high-altitude deployments to desert warfare zones, and includes significant international assignments as well.
Known for his academic brilliance and tactical acumen, Lt Gen Rathee has excelled in all major professional military courses. His leadership style combines rigorous operational discipline with a strong focus on welfare and human resource development within the Army.
Honouring the Fallen, Inspiring the Future
Immediately after taking over the reins of the Konark Corps, Lt Gen Rathee visited the Jodhpur War Memorial, where he laid a wreath in solemn tribute to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The gesture underscored the enduring traditions of courage and sacrifice that define the ethos of the Indian Army.
In his address to the troops, Lt Gen Rathee exhorted all ranks to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and to work with zeal, enthusiasm, and pride. He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to ensuring operational readiness at all times, especially given its role as a strike formation under South Western Command, which holds critical responsibilities along India’s western borders.
The Konark Corps – Spearhead of Strike Power
The Konark Corps, headquartered in Jodhpur, is one of the Indian Army’s premier strike corps, charged with the responsibility of conducting swift, decisive offensive operations. It plays a pivotal role in maintaining deterrence and combat superiority along the western front, especially in the desert theatre of Rajasthan.
The Corps has been central to India’s desert warfare capability and has consistently demonstrated its prowess in large-scale exercises such as Sudarshan Shakti, Vajra Prahar, and Operation Sindoor, where it synergised with the Indian Air Force and BSF to simulate full-spectrum operations across the desert and semi-arid zones.
Under Lt Gen Rathee’s leadership, the Konark Corps is expected to continue its trajectory of transformational growth, with greater focus on joint operations, technological adaptation, and future-ready warfare strategies.

लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल एवीएस राठी, एसएम, वीएसएम ने कोणार्क कोर की कमान संभाली
जयपुर, 17 जून 2025 – भारतीय सेना की सबसे रणनीतिक और आक्रामक स्ट्राइक फॉर्मेशन में से एक, कोणार्क कोर (बारहवीं कोर) ने आज एक महत्वपूर्ण नेतृत्व परिवर्तन देखा, जब लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल एवीएस राठी, सेना मेडल, विशिष्ट सेवा मेडल ने इसके 28वें जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग (GOC) के रूप में औपचारिक रूप से कमान संभाली।
उन्होंने यह जिम्मेदारी लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल मोहित मल्होत्रा, अति विशिष्ट सेवा मेडल, सेना मेडल से ली, जिनके कार्यकाल के दौरान कोर ने व्यावसायिक दक्षता, संचालनिक तत्परता और प्रशासनिक उत्कृष्टता के नए मानक स्थापित किए।
34 वर्षों की गौरवशाली सैन्य सेवा के अनुभवी नेता
लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल राठी राष्ट्रीय रक्षा अकादमी (एनडीए), खडकवासला और भारतीय सैन्य अकादमी (आईएमए), देहरादून के पूर्व छात्र हैं। अपने 34 वर्षों के सैन्य करियर में उन्होंने अनेक महत्वपूर्ण कमांड और स्टाफ नियुक्तियां संभाली हैं। उनकी सेवा का दायरा उच्च हिमालयी क्षेत्रों से लेकर थार के मरुस्थल तक फैला है। साथ ही, उन्होंने अंतरराष्ट्रीय दायित्वों का भी सफलतापूर्वक निर्वहन किया है।
जनरल राठी ने सभी प्रमुख सैन्य पाठ्यक्रमों में श्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन किया है। वह एक ऐसे नेता माने जाते हैं जो संचालनिक अनुशासन को मानव संसाधन विकास के साथ संतुलित करते हैं।
वीरों को श्रद्धांजलि, सैनिकों को प्रेरणा
कमान संभालने के तुरंत बाद उन्होंने जोधपुर युद्ध स्मारक पहुंचकर शहीद वीरों को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की, जिन्होंने राष्ट्र रक्षा में अपने प्राण न्यौछावर किए। यह श्रद्धांजलि सेना की परंपरा, गौरव और बलिदान के मूल्यों की अभिव्यक्ति थी।
अपने पहले संबोधन में उन्होंने कोर के सभी अधिकारियों और जवानों से उत्साह, अनुशासन और राष्ट्रभक्ति के साथ कार्य करने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा कि कोणार्क कोर को भविष्य में भी भारत की रणनीतिक शक्ति के रूप में तैयार रहना है, खासकर देश के पश्चिमी सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों में।
कोणार्क कोर – भारतीय सेना की रेगिस्तानी मारक शक्ति
जोधपुर में मुख्यालय वाली कोणार्क कोर भारतीय सेना की प्रमुख स्ट्राइक फॉर्मेशन है, जिसे भारत की पश्चिमी सीमाओं पर त्वरित और निर्णायक सैन्य कार्रवाई करने की जिम्मेदारी दी गई है। यह कोर दक्षिण पश्चिमी कमान के अंतर्गत आती है और देश की रेगिस्तानी युद्ध क्षमता का प्रमुख आधार है।
इस कोर ने सुदर्शन शक्ति, वज्र प्रहार, और हाल ही में चर्चित ऑपरेशन सिंदूर जैसे अभ्यासों में अपनी दक्षता को प्रमाणित किया है, जहां इसने भारतीय वायुसेना और बीएसएफ के साथ मिलकर समन्वित युद्धाभ्यास किए।
लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल राठी के नेतृत्व में कोणार्क कोर से संयुक्त युद्ध रणनीतियों, टेक्नोलॉजी आधारित युद्धाभ्यास और भविष्य की युद्ध तैयारियों पर विशेष जोर की उम्मीद की जा रही है।
