Murad Sadpara dies on Broad Peak; rescue Op to retrieve body underway

Murad Sadpara was leading the K2 cleaning campaign.

Pakistan Army carried out a rescue operation to retrieve the body of Murad Sadpara climber from broad pack on the second day.

A 6-member rescue team transported Murad Sadara’s body to the Japanese base camp and it may take another upto five hours to bring the body back to the base camp.

In Skardu, Murad Sadpara was seriously injured after being hit by stone at Camp 1 during the expedition to the 8,047-meter-high Broad Peak Mountain.

Murad Sadpara was leading the K2 cleaning campaign.

Punjab Maryam Nawaz Chief Minister has expressed grief over the death of Pakistani mountaineer Murad Sadpara and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. 

Who was Murad Sadpara?

Murad Sadpara was a well-known name among mountaineers and climbers as a person who was always extending help to his fellow climbers.

He was seen rescuing people on high mountains most of his expeditions.

Murad Sadpara, the famous mountaineer of Skardu suffered an unfortunate accident on Broad Peak. As per the latest reports, his body is being shifted to his native area. Murad Sadpara used to spend his time mountain climbing in the summers and driving tractors in the winter.

He was the only climber in the world who set an incredible record by taking off his shirt at the top of K2.

He had single-handedly rescued dozens of climbers from Broad Peak in 2022. A few days before this recovery operation, Murad Sadpara, who was a member of the team that recovered the dead body of Afghan mountaineer Ali Raza Sakhi from K2 in 2023, had climbed Nanga Parbat twice in six days.

K2 was part of the team that recovered the dead body of mountaineer Hasan Shagri. Murad Sadpara himself suffered an accident on a mountain like Broad Peak.

A stone coming from a height of 5700 meters fell on Murad’s head. He lost their breath on the spot and after 24 hours his body was exhumed and shifted to his hometown Sadpara village.
