Naval Steering Committee Advances Warship Material Technology in Line with National Self-Reliance Goals

The 34th Steering Committee Meeting (SCM) on Warship Material Technology convened at the Naval Materials Research Laboratory (NMRL) under the leadership of Vice Admiral Kiran Deshmukh, Chief of Materiel (COM).
The meeting, co-chaired by Dr. Y Sreenivas Rao, Director of Naval Science and Materials (DS, DG(NS&M)), focused on bolstering the Indian Navy’s capabilities through the development of advanced and specialized materials.
During the meeting, a variety of project proposals were meticulously reviewed, all aiming to enhance the construction and performance of warship materials for use on Indian Navy platforms.
These discussions underscore the committee’s commitment to fostering innovation and cutting-edge technology in naval warfare.
The SCM, an annual event, plays a pivotal role in reviewing and promoting the collaboration between the Indian Navy and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
