A couple of hours before the photo was shared, the Press Club had in a post on X requested its members to stay safe at home amid the heavy rainfall. ‘There is heavy water-logging in and around the Press Club of India,’ it had shared on X with a video of the flooded locality.

Heavy rainfall unleashed chaos in the national capital on Wednesday evening, as large parts of the city went underwater and key stretches were choked with unending traffic leaving people stranded on roads that resembled rivers. While social media has been flooded with visuals of the “Delhi deluge”, a photo clicked at the Press Club of India has gone viral as it showed a group of journalists enjoying their drinks and snacks even as they sat in almost knee-deep water.

On Thursday, the meteorological department forecasted more rain for the national capital after heavy showers inundated large parts of the city and caused 27 building collapses that claimed one life and injured three on Wednesday.

The IMD added that the maximum temperature is likely to settle around 33 degrees Celsius. It has predicted generally cloudy sky, and light to moderate rain thundershowers during the day.

Data showed that 2,727 calls related to traffic jams and 119 calls of waterlogging were received till 12 am. There were another 218 calls of traffic jams and eight of waterlogging till 7 am, it showed. The police also received 50 calls for uprooted trees during this period.
