In a landmark achievement that underlines the transformation of India’s traditional industries under the vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has recorded an unprecedented turnover of Rs 1.70 lakh crore in the financial year 2024-25 — the highest-ever in independent India’s history.

The figures were announced by KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar at Rajghat, New Delhi, while releasing the provisional data for FY 2024-25. He attributed this monumental success to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the strategic support of the Ministry of MSME, and the tireless dedication of over 1.94 crore rural artisans.

Historic Growth Across All Indicators
According to the KVIC Chairman, in the last 11 years, the sector has witnessed remarkable progress:

• Production jumped by 347%, from Rs 26,109 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 1,16,599 crore in 2024-25.
• Sales surged by 447%, from Rs 31,154 crore to Rs 1,70,551 crore.
• Employment generation grew by 49.23%, with the number of employed individuals rising from 1.30 crore to 1.94 crore.

This performance reflects not just economic numbers, but the revival of Mahatma Gandhi’s vision for rural India through Khadi and the spirit of self-reliance.

Revival of Khadi as a National Symbol
Once considered niche and outdated, Khadi has now become a symbol of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, embraced by citizens across urban and rural India alike. In fact, Khadi clothing production rose from Rs 811 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 3,783 crore in 2024-25 — a growth of 366%. Meanwhile, sales of Khadi apparel grew by 561%, reaching Rs 7,145 crore.

Chairman Manoj Kumar highlighted that PM Modi’s vocal promotion of Khadi on national and international platforms has been a game-changer. From Mann Ki Baat to world forums, the Prime Minister has consistently projected Khadi as both a legacy and a lifestyle choice.

Record-Breaking Business at Khadi Bhawan
The iconic Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan in New Delhi recorded a turnover of Rs 110.01 crore, almost double of its business in 2013-14, when it stood at Rs 51.02 crore.

Massive Boost Through PMEGP and Gramodyog Vikas Yojana
The Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) continues to empower micro-entrepreneurs. Since its inception:

• Over 10.18 lakh units have been set up.
• Rs 27,166 crore in margin money subsidy has been disbursed.
• Over 90 lakh people have gained employment.

Simultaneously, the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana saw a 134% increase in budget allocation, from Rs 25.65 crore (2021-22) to Rs 60 crore (2025-26). Under this scheme, KVIC distributed:

• 2.87 lakh machines and toolkits including pottery wheels, bee boxes, incense stick machines, and toy-making tools.
• In FY 2024-25 alone, 37,218 machines were distributed — the highest in three years.

Women Empowerment: The Backbone of Rural Khadi
Of the 7.43 lakh individuals trained through KVIC’s 35 training centres in the last 10 years, over 57% (4.27 lakh) are women. Additionally, 80% of the 5 lakh Khadi artisans are also women, furthering the cause of rural women empowerment.

Wage growth has also seen a 275% rise in 11 years, and 100% in the last three years alone, significantly improving the quality of life for artisans.

Viksit Bharat by 2047: KVIC’s Role Strengthened
Chairman Manoj Kumar concluded that the transformation of the Khadi and Village Industries sector is a key pillar in India’s mission to become a developed nation by 2047. “This success is a result of Bapu’s inspiration, the Prime Minister’s guarantee, the Ministry’s guidance, and the hard work of crores of artisans in remote villages,” he said.

‘आत्मनिर्भर भारत’ के सपने को साकार करते हुए, खादी और ग्रामोद्योग आयोग (KVIC) ने वित्तीय वर्ष 2024-25 में अब तक का सबसे बड़ा रिकॉर्ड बनाया है। पहली बार खादी और ग्रामोद्योग क्षेत्र का कुल कारोबार 1.70 लाख करोड़ रुपये से अधिक पहुंच गया है।

यह ऐतिहासिक जानकारी KVIC के अध्यक्ष श्री मनोज कुमार ने राजघाट स्थित कार्यालय में आयोजित प्रेस वार्ता के दौरान साझा की। उन्होंने इस अद्वितीय उपलब्धि का श्रेय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी के नेतृत्व, MSME मंत्रालय के मार्गदर्शन, और देश भर के 1.94 करोड़ ग्रामीण कारीगरों की मेहनत को दिया।

11 वर्षों में अभूतपूर्व वृद्धि
श्री मनोज कुमार ने बताया कि वर्ष 2013-14 की तुलना में पिछले 11 वर्षों में:

• उत्पादन में 347% की वृद्धि हुई (Rs 26,109 करोड़ से बढ़कर Rs 1,16,599 करोड़)।
• बिक्री में 447% की बढ़ोतरी हुई (Rs 31,154 करोड़ से बढ़कर Rs 1,70,551 करोड़)।
• रोजगार सृजन में 49.23% की वृद्धि (1.30 करोड़ से बढ़कर 1.94 करोड़ लोगों को रोजगार मिला)।

यह केवल आर्थिक आंकड़े नहीं हैं, बल्कि महात्मा गांधी की स्वावलंबी ग्रामीण अर्थव्यवस्था की पुनःस्थापना का प्रमाण है।

खादी: अब सिर्फ कपड़ा नहीं, राष्ट्रीय गौरव का प्रतीक
जहां एक समय में खादी को सिर्फ एक पारंपरिक वस्त्र माना जाता था, आज वह ‘एक भारत, श्रेष्ठ भारत’ की पहचान बन चुकी है। 2013-14 में जहां खादी वस्त्रों का उत्पादन Rs 811 करोड़ था, वह अब 2024-25 में बढ़कर Rs 3,783 करोड़ हो गया — 366% की वृद्धि। वहीं, खादी वस्त्रों की बिक्री Rs 1,081 करोड़ से बढ़कर Rs 7,145 करोड़ हो गई — 561% की छलांग।

श्री मनोज कुमार ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री मोदी द्वारा खादी के प्रचार-प्रसार ने इसकी लोकप्रियता को नई ऊंचाइयों तक पहुंचाया है।

खादी भवन नई दिल्ली ने भी बनाया रिकॉर्ड
खादी ग्रामोद्योग भवन, नई दिल्ली का कारोबार Rs 110.01 करोड़ पर पहुंच गया, जो कि 2013-14 में Rs 51.02 करोड़ था — लगभग दोगुना।

प्रधानमंत्री रोजगार सृजन कार्यक्रम और ग्रामोद्योग विकास योजना से नई ऊर्जा
PMEGP के तहत:

• अब तक 10.18 लाख उद्यम स्थापित हुए हैं।
• Rs 27,166 करोड़ की सब्सिडी और Rs 73,348 करोड़ के ऋण वितरित हुए।
• 90 लाख से अधिक लोगों को रोजगार मिला है।

ग्रामोद्योग विकास योजना का बजट 134% बढ़ाकर Rs 60 करोड़ किया गया है। इसके तहत:

• अब तक 2.87 लाख मशीनें और टूलकिट्स वितरित किए गए।
• केवल 2024-25 में ही 37,218 उपकरण वितरित किए गए — पिछले तीन वर्षों में सबसे अधिक।

महिला सशक्तिकरण में खादी की बड़ी भूमिका
पिछले 10 वर्षों में KVIC के 35 प्रशिक्षण केंद्रों के माध्यम से 7.43 लाख से अधिक प्रशिक्षु तैयार किए गए, जिनमें 57.45% महिलाएं हैं। साथ ही खादी के 80% कारीगर भी महिलाएं हैं।

खादी कारीगरों की मजदूरी में 11 वर्षों में 275% और पिछले तीन वर्षों में 100% की वृद्धि हुई है।

विकसित भारत 2047: खादी का योगदान अहम
श्री मनोज कुमार ने कहा कि खादी और ग्रामोद्योग क्षेत्र की यह उन्नति विकसित भारत के लक्ष्य को प्राप्त करने में एक मजबूत आधारशिला साबित हो रही है। “यह उपलब्धि बापू की प्रेरणा, प्रधानमंत्री की गारंटी, मंत्रालय के मार्गदर्शन और गांवों में काम कर रहे करोड़ों कारीगरों की मेहनत का परिणाम है,” उन्होंने कहा।
