Massive Digital Reform: Aadhaar Card Updation Now Possible from Home – Linked With Birth Certificate, Driving License, and Passport by November 2025
In a sweeping digital transformation initiative aimed at improving ease of living and plugging identity fraud, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has officially rolled out home-based Aadhaar updation services. This marks a significant policy shift and a massive blow to fake Aadhaar networks, enabling citizens to update key details using OTP-based authentication—without visiting Aadhaar centers.
The development is being hailed as a “Digital Surgical Strike” on fake identities, ghost beneficiaries, and document forgers. Under the new plan, the Aadhaar number will be seamlessly linked to birth certificates, driving licenses, passports, and other government databases by November 2025, forming the backbone of India’s unified digital identity ecosystem.
NO MORE STANDING IN QUEUES: UPDATE AADHAAR FROM THE COMFORT OF HOME
Starting June 2025, Indian citizens can now update their address, name, date of birth, gender, and photo from the comfort of their home using the UIDAI portal or mAadhaar app.
This has been made possible through secure OTP-based verification linked to the registered mobile number. The process eliminates middlemen, reduces corruption, and brings down logistical burdens on Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs), which were previously flooded with long queues and slow turnaround times.
TARGETING FAKE AADHAARS: 2025’s BIGGEST CLEAN-UP MISSION
According to top officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), several lakh fake or duplicate Aadhaar numbers have already been flagged during ongoing audits and will be deactivated or rectified under the new guidelines.
This Aadhaar cleansing mission is part of the Centre’s “Digital India Clean Registry Drive”, which aims to:
- Eliminate ghost beneficiaries from welfare schemes.
- Prevent fraudulent SIM activations using fake Aadhaar.
- Stop criminals from using forged identity to procure passports or loans.
NOVEMBER DEADLINE: LINKING AADHAAR WITH KEY GOVERNMENT DATABASES
By November 2025, Aadhaar will be mandatorily integrated with:
- Birth and Death Registration Records.
- Driving License databases (via DigiLocker & RTOs).
- Passport application systems (via the MEA and Passport Seva Kendra network).
- Educational certificates and school enrolment systems (in coordination with CBSE and state boards).
This cross-platform linkage will create a single digital identity trail that can be authenticated across multiple government and private portals. Citizens will no longer need to carry multiple documents, reducing paperwork, delays, and document forgery.
BIG TECH PUSH FOR LAST-MILE ACCESS
The government has also activated special outreach for rural and remote areas through:
- Aadhaar Seva Kendras on Wheels (Mobile Vans).
- CSC-VLE (Common Service Centre – Village Level Entrepreneurs) who will assist citizens in OTP-based updates using biometric devices in villages.
- Multi-lingual UI in the mAadhaar app to assist users in regional languages.
CITIZENS EMPOWERED, SYSTEM SECURED
This move represents a paradigm shift in citizen empowerment, providing a direct interface between individuals and their identity without dependency on officials or centers.
It not only ensures transparency and accuracy in public records but also aligns with India’s ambition to become a paperless, presence-less, and cashless digital economy.
With over 1.37 billion Aadhaar numbers issued, this initiative is being viewed as one of the largest and most ambitious citizen-facing digital governance reforms anywhere in the world.

देश में डिजिटल गवर्नेंस को एक नई ऊंचाई पर पहुंचाते हुए भारतीय विशिष्ट पहचान प्राधिकरण (UIDAI) ने आधार कार्ड अपडेट करने की सुविधा अब घर बैठे उपलब्ध करा दी है।
इस फैसले को सरकार की तरफ से फर्ज़ी आधार पर ‘डिजिटल सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक’ माना जा रहा है, जिससे फर्जी दस्तावेज़, घोस्ट लाभार्थियों और अपराधियों पर करारा प्रहार होगा।
UIDAI ने जानकारी दी है कि अब से नाम, पता, जन्मतिथि, लिंग और फोटो जैसे विवरण OTP के माध्यम से अपडेट किए जा सकते हैं, वह भी बिना आधार केंद्र गए।
अब आधार केंद्र नहीं जाना पड़ेगा, सब कुछ घर से OTP द्वारा संभव
जून 2025 से देश के नागरिक mAadhaar ऐप या UIDAI पोर्टल के माध्यम से अपना आधार अपडेट कर सकेंगे।
यह सुविधा पंजीकृत मोबाइल नंबर पर प्राप्त OTP के जरिए पूरी होगी, जिससे अब दलालों, बिचौलियों और फर्जी गतिविधियों पर रोक लगेगी।
अब तक जिन लोगों को लंबी लाइनें, केंद्रों की भीड़ और बार-बार के चक्कर काटने पड़ते थे, उनके लिए यह सुविधा किसी राहत से कम नहीं है।
फर्जी आधार पर सबसे बड़ा हमला – देशव्यापी क्लीन-अप ऑपरेशन शुरू
इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रालय (MeitY) के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि लाखों फर्जी या डुप्लिकेट आधार पहले ही ट्रेस किए जा चुके हैं। इन्हें या तो निष्क्रिय किया जाएगा या सुधार किया जाएगा।
यह अभियान केंद्र सरकार के “डिजिटल इंडिया क्लीन रजिस्ट्री ड्राइव” का हिस्सा है, जिसके तहत:
- फर्जी लाभार्थियों को सरकारी योजनाओं से हटाया जाएगा।
- फर्जी आधार से सिम कार्ड एक्टिवेशन पर रोक लगेगी।
- अपराधियों द्वारा फर्जी पहचान से पासपोर्ट, लोन आदि लेने पर नियंत्रण होगा।
नवंबर तक सभी जरूरी सरकारी डेटाबेस से जुड़ेगा आधार
UIDAI ने स्पष्ट किया है कि नवंबर 2025 तक आधार को इन प्रमुख दस्तावेज़ों और डेटाबेस से जोड़ा जाएगा:
- जन्म और मृत्यु प्रमाणपत्र रजिस्ट्रेशन सिस्टम।
- ड्राइविंग लाइसेंस डेटाबेस (RTOs और डिजीलॉकर के माध्यम से)।
- पासपोर्ट सेवा केंद्र और विदेश मंत्रालय के सिस्टम।
- स्कूल/कॉलेज सर्टिफिकेट और छात्र नामांकन डेटा।
इस एकीकृत प्रणाली से भारत में हर नागरिक का एकल डिजिटल पहचान ट्रेल (Single Digital Identity Trail) बनेगा, जिसे हर सरकारी पोर्टल पर सत्यापित किया जा सकेगा।
गांव-गांव तक डिजिटल सुविधा पहुंचाने की तैयारी
ग्रामीण और दूरदराज़ क्षेत्रों के लिए सरकार ने निम्न व्यवस्थाएं की हैं:
- मोबाइल आधार सेवा केंद्र (Vans)।
- CSC-VLEs (कॉमन सर्विस सेंटर – गांव स्तर पर प्रतिनिधि)।
- mAadhaar ऐप को सभी क्षेत्रीय भाषाओं में उपलब्ध कराने की योजना।
नागरिक सशक्त, सिस्टम सुरक्षित
यह बदलाव भारत की डिजिटल क्रांति में ऐतिहासिक मील का पत्थर है। इससे नागरिकों को अपनी पहचान पर पूर्ण नियंत्रण मिलेगा और किसी कार्यालय या कर्मचारी पर निर्भरता नहीं रहेगी।
यह कदम न केवल प्रशासन में पारदर्शिता लाएगा, बल्कि भारत को कागज़ रहित, उपस्थिति रहित और कैशलेस डिजिटल अर्थव्यवस्था की दिशा में भी मजबूत करेगा।
अब तक 1.37 अरब से अधिक आधार संख्या जारी हो चुकी हैं, और यह बदलाव दुनिया के सबसे बड़े नागरिक डिजिटल अभियान के रूप में देखा जा रहा है।
